Aim
and Objectives: The DNB Program
is conducted by the National Board
of Examinations was established with
the prime objective of improving the
quality of the Medical Education by
elevating the level and establishing
standards of post graduate examinations
in modern medicine on an all India
basis. The Diplomate qualifications
awarded by the National Board of Examinations
have been equated with the postgraduate
and post doctorate degrees awarded
by other Indian Universities by the
Government of India, Ministry of Health
and Family Welfare; vide their notifications
issued from time to time (Annexure
III). The holders of Board's qualification
awarded after an examination are eligible
to be considered for specialists post
in any Hospital other than a training/teaching
institution.
Eligibility:
MBBS, M.D. (Gen. Med.) MBBS,M.S (Gen.
Med.)
Duration
and Scope: DNB is a 3-year
program. At the end of the 3 years
the student receives the diplomate
qualifications. Diplomate qualifications
awarded by the National Board of Examinations
have been equated with the postgraduate
and post doctorate degrees awarded
by other Indian Universities by the
Government of India, Ministry of Health
and Family Welfare; vide their notifications
issued from time to time (Annexure
III). The holders of Board's qualification
awarded after an examination are eligible

Aim
and Objectives: IGNOU established
a program dedicated to train large
numbers of medical graduates to deal
effectively with early recognition,
management and prevention of common
cardiovascular diseases and associated
diseases like diabetes mellitus, hypertension.
The preventive and treatment modalities
should be timely and reach large sections
of society who are now in the non-urban
and rural areas that may otherwise
be not reached. The training will
help in earlier access to patient
care following "heart attacks"
and common conditions like "heart
failure" and "hypertension".
This will also result in timely referrals
where indicated and emphasise primary
and secondary prevention.
The course will help provide a significant
number of doctors with training in
Basic Cardiology and bridge the present
gap to more advanced MD, DM and DNB
training where access to training
programs is severely restricted.
The Bhagawan Mahaveer Jain Heart Centre-Vivus
Group is an accredited study centre
for this course.
Eligibility:
MBBS
Duration
and Scope: PGDCC is a 2-year
in-service residential program for
post MBBS doctors. Training is provided
in clinical and non-invasive cardiology.
The emphasis will be on supervised
clinical cardiology, coronary care
and 'hands on' experience with non-invasive
investigations like echocardiography
and stress testing.
